In 1924 Filipino agricultural workers on the island of Kauai staged a strike. The consequences of this event included a near-riot and a shooting. In 1979 University of Hawaii oral history project interviewed 34 people who were involved in the event. In 2008, the HistOracle project took a tiny fragment of the audio archives, attached metadata to it, and launched an audio-driven search engine that responds in the voices of the interviewees.
